As long as it doesn't say "flat rate" or "Regional" on it, it will ship at the regular Priority Mail rates that are based on weight and distance. The actual thresholds are (1) a length-plus girth over 84 inches (balloon rate) or (2) a volume over 1 cubic foot (dimensional weight).Ī box that's 12.5 x 3.125 x 15.375 has a volume of about 600 cubic inches and a length-plus-girth of 47 inches, both are well under those thresholds. If all of a box's dimensions are 12 inches or less, then it's mathematically impossible for it to incur a surcharge so they let you skip the step of entering dimensions. Is there a good resource that explains all of this, the best tips and tricks, and if Etsy has removed certain USPS box sizes? Thanks in advance, I think I may also have to reach to other potters directly for advice. a dimension over 12" doesn't mean it's a "large package" - it just kicks you to a screen that asks for dimensions. I still do not fully understand the regional zones and have mistakenly boxed things up incorrectly where I've received a bill from the PO for my mistake. What I usually do is box everything up with padding and weigh it, then go to the label purchase section, enter the weight and size, and compare rates, sometimes having to repackage everything in a different sized box for the better price. I'm still learning about the best way to ship, especially after a sale has qualified for "free" shipping that I need to pay. (There are other smaller sizes and envelopes, of course, but these will not fit my pottery.) So am I able to use the Small Cube anymore? Could it be used if I chose my "own packaging"? Or does it truly need to be a generic brown cardboard box with a priority label slapped on it? When selecting a box size at checkout the pull down menu does not offer options for USPS Small Box #4 (the 7x7圆 "Cube") or Large Box #7 (12x12x8), yet these are still freely available from the Post Office. I only see options for Flat Rate and Regional Rate boxes, or my own packaging.
